Several radio stations from previous GTAs that aren't in San Andreas are: Latin, classical, public radio, drum 'n' bass, and-oddly enough-an '80s channel. In a nod to the game's newly added rural areas, there's also K-Rose, a country station. San Andreas also features Radio: X, an "alternative" station sporting a mix of grunge, metal, and indie rock. A close runner-up is Bounce FM, an all-funk station whose DJ is played by Mr. Most impressive of these is Master Sounds, which offers a delectable selection of rare grooves (How's a drive-by to James Brown sound?). But San Andreas also offers several new styles of music. Reggae is also back in the form of K-JAH West, presumably the sister station to Grand Theft Auto III's K-JAH.Īnother musical-genre returnee from GTAIII is techno, in the form of SF-UR. However, this time around there are two hip-hop stations-gangsta rap station Radio Los Santos and Playback FM, which features classic hip-hop (and whose DJ is voiced by Chuck D).
As before, there's a talk radio station (WCTR), a rock station (K-DST The Dust"), and an R&B station. The selection of musical genres this time around is more varied than in past games. Since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is set in 1992, its radio stations are also reflective of that era-or some are, anyway. This was definitely true in Vice City, whose Scarface-era aura was heightened by a constant stream of early-'80s hits. Besides passing time as you drive from one heinous crime to the next, they provide entertainment and atmosphere. One of the most fun aspects of the Grand Theft Auto games is the selection of radio stations.
